Student support
All students are supported within the classrooms at Diamond Creek Primary School to reach their full potential. Teachers provide the appropriate challenge for every student’s level of learning and to meet their individual learning needs in each area of the curriculum. We offer different types of support and extension depending on the individual student’s learning circumstance.
In addition to extending our highly able students on a day-to-day basis in their classroom and in specialist areas, we also offer extension to them through the Department of Education's Student Excellence Program. Through this, we nominate particular students for participation in the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series, and the Victorian High-Ability Program.
We offer our school-based Learning Enhancement Program (Tutoring) to those students for whom a greater degree of specialised support may be required. Select students are supported in this program as they work with a dedicated teacher individually or in small groups to develop and strengthen specific skills with a focus on providing students with further support in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy.
Our students are further supported by our Wellbeing co-ordinator and Disability Inclusion co-ordinator who work in close partnership with students, families and allied health specialists to support students to thrive in terms of their wellbeing and learning.
