About us
Our history
Diamond Creek Primary School is a small school of approximately 250+ students, situated in the heart of Diamond Creek. The school has occupied the site since 1870 and boasts a rich history of education within the area. The school’s original building, which has been well maintained, houses two classrooms, representing the school’s motto, ‘where tradition meets the future’.
The hillside site combines bushland with natural play areas for all age groups. The school is part of a strong committed community that supports the school in many ways.
Our house names reflect the names of some of the families during our first year of existence. Harrington, Edmonds, Wadeson and Archer were all families enrolled in our first ever grade.
Our values
At Diamond Creek Primary School we pride ourselves on a whole school focus on our four values – Respect, Cooperation, Persistence, and Striving for Excellence. With behaviour, attitudes, interactions and learning influenced heavily by these values, our students receive not only a high quality academic education but are also supported in the development of their emotional and social intelligence through their learning journey.
DCPS is proud to be embed the Respectful Relationships and School Wide Positive Behaviour Initiatives in all aspects of our school life. These initiatives provide students, staff and our wider community with evidence-based frameworks for supporting all students to thrive in school as well as life beyond the school gates.
We always celebrate the achievements of our students each and every day in many different ways; sometimes a friendly smile, a ‘high-five’, or a simple phrase means so much to our students to encourage their fantastic behaviour and balanced choices. In addition, we have our Student of the Week awards for outstanding behaviour, and our Diamond of the Month awards which are presented to those students who demonstrate the values to a very high standard. It is a huge honour to receive Diamond of the Month at Diamond Creek Primary School.
We feel it is vital to prepare our students to be successful learners and future citizens by embedding our values of Respect, Cooperation, Persistence and Striving for Excellence in the way we live at school. We aim to support our students to be the best they can be and to ‘shine like diamonds’!

Facilities
Diamond Creek Primary School is situated on a large and well-maintained allotment. We have four main buildings which were each constructed at different times, uniquely reflecting the history of the school's development.
Our children, families and staff are all very proud of our beautiful school setting and the individuality of each of our buildings. Our entire community works together to ensure they are well maintained, as are the grounds and picturesque gardens.
Our grounds are spacious and generously provide room for all types of play. We have a full sized basketball court, a fantastic synthetic grass oval, four adventure playgrounds which are purpose-built for different play challenges, shaded areas including the central courtyard and gardens. There is also a beautifully landscaped veggie patch area, sensory garden, hot house, wetland areas, outdoor learning area, bat tennis courts, rebound walls, and a number of hard surface areas suitable for ball games, skipping and many other fun-filled games.
Something for everyone is included in the Diamond Creek Primary School facilities.
