Student Support

All students are supported within the classrooms at Diamond Creek Primary School to reach their full potential.

All students are supported within the classrooms at Diamond Creek Primary School to reach their full potential. Teachers provide the appropriate challenge for every student’s level of learning and to meet their individual learning needs in each area of the curriculum. We offer different types of support and extension depending on the individual student’s learning circumstance.

In addition to extending our highly able students on a day-to-day basis in their classroom and in specialist areas, we also offer extension to them through the Department of Education and Training’s Student Excellence Program. Through this, we nominate particular students for participation in the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series, and the Victorian High-Ability Program.

We offer our school-based Learning Enhancement Program to those students for whom a greater degree of specialised support may be required. Select students are supported in this program as they work with a dedicated teacher individually or in small groups to develop and strengthen specific skills.

Our students are further supported by our Speech and Language Pathologist and our school Psychologist, who work part-time to assist us in understanding the needs of each of our students, so that we can always provide what is required to optimise their learning opportunities.

We offer emotional support in many ways, and especially so by providing individual mentors for students with emotional needs through the Kids Hope program. We of course welcome our Diamond Creek Primary School parents with ‘open arms’ to assist in our classrooms, our specialist programs and in additional extracurricular programs and events.
